MICHAEL TREMBATH

Michael is from Melbourne and is a former Dux of the Roseworthy College Wine Marketing course. Following extensive experience in the retail trade in the early 1980s, Michael joined W. J. Seabrook where he became a shareholder and partner, fulfilling the role of Sales and Marketing Director. During this period, he worked with some of the leading wine producers in Italy, developing a keen interest in quality Italian wine.

In 1992, Michael went to live and work in Milan, spending two years with the leading shippers of Italian wine, Neil and Maria Empson.

He then returned to Australia to start his own Italian wine distribution and marketing company - Trembath & Taylor Pty Ltd. The portfolio includes such leading Italian producers as Bollini, Pieropan, Bellavista, Marcarini, Jermann, Felsina and Umani Ronchi and the company operates nationally, delivering daily to fine wine retailers and restaurants.

Michael maintains close contact with these producers and the industry in general and in 2009 he made his 28th trip to Italy, which included launching the company Golf and Wine in Italy and conducting its inaugural Grand Tour.

ELIZABETH TOUMBOS

Elizabeth Toumbos has been producing mouth-watering chocolates and cakes since 1992.

Her Adelaide and Melbourne stores were well-known for creations like ‘The Wild Thing’ and ‘Death by Chocolate’ and, in 1997, she featured on Channel 9’s Valentine day’s edition of ‘What's Cooking?, creating a deliciously cheeky cake for both lovers and chocolate lovers.

She now makes her chocolate creations at her studio in Prahran, Melbourne, specialising in bespoke wedding cakes.

But while chocolate may be her life, Italian food is Elizabeth’s passion and this is no more obvious than during the Golf and Wine in Italy tours, as the groups are treated to some of Elizabeth’s choices of the best in Italian regional cuisine, or revel in her home-cooked delights during ‘The Lake Idyll’.

TESTIMONIALS

Phil Langford - Milan, Italy
Palazzo Arzaga has always been one of my favourite courses, but took on another dimension when combined with visits to Pieropan and Bellavista wineries. I particularly enjoyed the competition with the GOWI points system, too, even if I could only draw with Silvio Jermann!

Peter Papini - Melbourne, Australia
I live and work in Melbourne, but was born and raised in Tuscany. Golf and Wine in Italy gave me a fascinating insight into the wine, food and golf culture of North-Eastern Italy, in particular. Michael and Elizabeth were great to travel with, too.

Dennis Webb - Boca Raton, Florida, USA
I’d like to get Trembath over to the Carolinas to get my own back! Great fun and food and I was completely surprised how good the courses were.

Ron Wyckmans - Phoenix, Arizona, USA
I’ve played a lot of golf around the world (whilst travelling for Cisco Systems) and I can honestly say that Golf and Wine in Italy is one of the few companies that run a trip like you’d do it yourself (if you knew where to go). Michael and Elizabeth were terrific hosts.
